Manchester United hammered 10-man West Brom 5-0 at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night, while Tottenham beat Stoke 3-1 and Aston Villa won 1-0 away.Champions United pulled three points clear at the Premier League summit for 24 hours at least courtesy of their win over rockbottom Albion.

The Baggies started brightly in a match delayed by 30 minutes due to traffic congestion on the M6 - but the visitors went ahead after 21 minutes through Dimitar Berbatov.

Nemanja Vidic ended any outside hopes the hosts may have had of mounting a late fightback when he nodded home United’s third after an hour, while Cristiano Ronaldo completed the rout with a quickfire brace.

There was even more reason for the visitors to celebrate in the 84th minute as United broke Chelsea’s record for going the longest without conceding a goal in the Premier League.

Tottenham handed a debut to new signing Carlo Cudicini against Stoke but the former Chelsea goalkeeper was rarely called on to perform any heroics as Spurs ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at White Hart Lane.

Harry Redknapp’s side went ahead after just eight minutes, Aaron Lennon receiving a cross-field pass from Jermain Defoe and running at the Stoke defence before finishing with a low left-footed effort under Thomas Sorensen.

The hosts moved further ahead after 21 minutes, good interplay in the midfield between Luka Modric and Roman Pavlyuchenko resulting in the Russian striker delivering a superb throughball for Defoe to run in behind the Stoke defence and lash home low at Sorensen’s near post. Watch Live Streaming
